Meet the Creative Soul Behind the Work

Welcome! I’m Bella—an author, artist, holistic wellness practitioner, advocate, and lifelong believer in the power of creativity, compassion, and connection. My work is rooted in a simple truth: healing begins when we say yes to ourselves. Through writing, art, healing work, and heart-centered advocacy, I hope to create spaces where others feel seen, supported, inspired, and gently reminded of the magick already living within them.

When I’m not putting pen to paper or being guided by the brush, I’m creating sacred spaces for healing, reflection, connection, and advocacy. You may also find me spending time in nature, supporting causes close to my heart, or spoiling my senior cat. Wherever you are on your journey, my hope is to meet you with compassion, creativity, and encouragement—one step, one story, and one brushstroke at a time.

My Story Begins with Books

Books have been part of my life for as long as I can remember.

Some of my fondest childhood memories are reading with my Grammie and listening as my family shared beloved stories with me. Tikki Tikki Tembo, Halloween with Morris and Boris, and Curious George, and filling my imagination with wonder, laughter, and adventure. I can still remember how excited I was when I could finally say Tiki Tiki Tembo’s whole name!

The local library quickly became one of my favorite places. During summer reading programs, I eagerly devoured book after book, and one year I was honored to be recognized for reading the most books. I still remember choosing a collection of Grimm fairy tales as my prize—a choice that feels especially meaningful now, as I have always been drawn to stories of transformation, courage, mystery, and hope.

I also had a pen pal in Mexico during elementary school, and I eagerly awaited each new letter that arrived. Those handwritten exchanges taught me that stories and words have the power to connect hearts across cultures and distances.

Long before I became a published author, I understood that books could comfort us, inspire us, and remind us that we are never truly alone. That belief continues to guide my work today.

Becoming a Published Author

For many years, the dream of becoming a published author remained quietly tucked away in my heart. Although I was no longer writing regularly outside of my journals, journaling remained a private place where I could express my thoughts, emotions, and experiences.

Then, in 2015, the dream I had carried since my teenage years began to stir again. I came across an opportunity to become a contributing author in 365 Moments of Grace. My heart leapt at the possibility, but almost immediately, self-doubt and old beliefs surfaced. Who would want to read what I had written? Was I talented enough? Did I really belong in a book alongside other authors?

Despite those doubts, I found the courage to reach out and share my story ideas. To my surprise and delight, I was invited to contribute three pieces to the book. I said yes.

That one courageous decision became a turning point in my life.

365 Moments of Grace opened the door to a journey I could never have imagined. I went on to contribute to numerous anthologies, publish my poetic memoir, Behind the Masked Smile: A Survivor’s Quest for Love, and continue sharing stories rooted in healing, resilience, self-love, grief, and hope.

The dream I had carried since my teenage years had finally become a reality. More importantly, I discovered that sharing our stories can create connection, open hearts, and remind others that they are not alone.

The words I once hoped might help someone else feel less alone had finally found their way into the world.
